About Michelle Bangen

With nearly 20 years of experience developing innovative approaches to prevention and health promotion; program planning, implementation, research, and assessment; and coalition-building/engaging stakeholders and community partners; I have an in-depth knowledge of effective health education practices and public health models and theories. I am adaptable to a wide range of topics and environments with experience in sexual and gender-based violence prevention, mental health promotion/suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention, sexual health promotion, fitness and nutrition/obesity prevention, and wholistic wellbeing at institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, and in county government. I'm a people-person, and foundational to my work is building relations with others who share my passion for creating healthy, socially just communities where all people can thrive. I have lived experience that drives my passion for this work, where I have developed award-winning and nationally recognized prevention programs; contributed to research projects and publications that advance the field of prevention; delivered trainings and professional presentations nationally and locally; and held leadership roles in national, state, and regional professional organizations.
