About Mick Martin

My focus within the IT industry has always been on engaging and delivering programs and projects. I have been responsible both directly and from a delivery portfolio/PMO perspective for a wide range of programs and projects using waterfall and agile methodologies and principles. These have covered applications, IT infrastructure, systems integration, service delivery and business process improvement. I have established and maintained governance structures, reporting mechanisms and relationships for both portfolios and programs, including PMO reports, steering committees and executive briefings. My approach to setting up and running PMOs (and programs) is to ensure they are aligned to the organizational strategic business objectives and to regularly validate this to ensure the PMO is adding value. I have a good reputation for enthusing and ensuring that project managers have the discipline to adhere to the project management competencies required to deliver their projects to the overall corporate governance and strategy. At DXC I had a team of 35 PMs and PgMs across 15 different customers. At Fujitsu and EDS/HP, I managed services budgets of S1m per month and project delivery portfolios of $25m with up to 50 PMs managing 80 projects. At NEC I re-energised the PMO and achieved buy-in from all regions, where previously there had been disparity. At PM-Partners I managed a team of 35+ PMs, BAs and PMO staff working across 6 clients and also took on assignments as a PMO Consultant. I am currently at Intuity Consulting providing pragmatic and practical advice, delivery and support to clients within the P30 (Portfolio, Program and Project offices) space.
