The ODB provides executive level life coaching and ongoing advocacy to at-risk youth; support to their guardians and caring adults; and service to the community in a spirit of offering hope and enriching young lives.The ODB helps empower students who, through no fault of their own, are held back at the starting gate, limiting their potential, adding to the cyclical nature of poverty and increasing the demands on strained social services. As they near adulthood, they face a critical nexus which determines whether they repeat the cycle with their children or learn to function and self-advocate in ways that open long closed doors. ODB’s 12-Week After School Coaching ProgramResearch shows “it’s not too late” to help a teen — regardless of circumstances — positively transform his/her life. The after school program goals are: to build upon academic learning of at-risk high school students; to assist them in creating self-driven education and life plans; to empower them to further their post-secondary education through internships, apprenticeships and community involvement; and to provide them tools (laptops) to aid with their future success; and to offer ODB Graduates adult advocates who help them navigate college and career readiness.ODB’s 12-Week Coaching for College Completion helps college freshmen and sophomores who have limited resources create an education plan and connects them to solutions for post-secondary success. A team of experts assist college students with their self-driven education and life plans and empowers them to further their post-secondary education. Each class is led by executive-level certified life coach. Students are connected with college advisors and advocates who help them navigate the academic and social aspects of post-secondary education. Students receive meals and materials at no cost to them. Upon successful completion, Graduates earn a $200.00 scholarship to help them achieve post-secondary success.
