Background
About Mike Dow
Hey LinkedIn, I’m looking forward to connecting! Here’s a bit about me. I was born into a working-class family in Massachusetts as the youngest of two boys. Raised on "Sesame Street" and "The Muppet Show," I made my first movie in 2nd grade with a VHS camera and a Lego Galaxy Explorer set. Though my dream was to make it in Hollywood, my family went bankrupt when I was sixteen. But my parents were determined to support me, and through their sacrifice, I was able to go to NYU’s film school and graduate as valedictorian. I moved to LA, and through a series of strange events, landed the role of Israeli Boy on the hit sitcom "The Nanny," which led to me becoming their Writer’s Assistant for the next 4 seasons. From there, I worked on 200+ episodes of TV as an Editor, Associate Director and Camera Coordinator. Though I enjoyed my success, I yearned to have more of a leadership role. I became the Head of Creative for a Disney-owned content creation company. As Executive Producer for 6 series and 300+ pieces of content, we generated over 60M views and 600k YouTube subscribers. I was also a key part of the team that sold a $1M adblock to Verizon in the early days of YouTube advertising. Next, Fran Drescher offered me a writing job on her TV Land show "Happily Divorced," which aired for 3 seasons. I spent the next 12 years as a writer and went on to co-executive produce the Netflix animated comedy "Inside Job," which was a Netflix Top-10 show. I sold projects to Universal, Nickelodeon, Sony and most recently, I got a chance to write an action-horror movie for WATTPAD Webtoons, the world’s largest digital comics platform. I've had the opportunity to tell stories for start-ups and major studios, taking on a wide range of leadership roles. Whether collaborating in writing rooms, pitching show ideas, creating viral videos or leading creative teams, I've been able to pursue my childhood dream. ’ Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife Megen and son Nick, enjoying our home near the San Gabriel Mountains and playing ultimate frisbee. If you’re looking to chat with a versatile entertainment leader who bridges the gaps between storytelling, development, creative and production, then we should definitely connect. And if you’re looking to buy the rights to a thrilling sci-fi Lego film, I may know a guy! Thanks, Mike
