About Mike McLaughlin

My 40-year long career was as an actuary. I completed exams in less than 5 years. I worked in a company, then consulting, then a company again, then consulting again. My last position was Global Leader of Deloitte's actuarial practice, with 750 professionals in over 30 countries. I was President of the Society of Actuaries 2009-2010. I retired from Deloitte in 2012. My current main work is near-full time volunteering for Trees That Feed Foundation. I previously served as board member for OneAmerica, a successful, growing and ethical company, including chair of audit and investment committees. I've also served on the Advisory Board of DePaul University's business school for over 10 years. And I was co-founder, board member and CFO for McLaughlin Glazeware for many years. Established 2008 as a 501(c)(3) public charity, Trees That Feed Foundation plants fruit trees in developing countries. Our objectives are to feed people, create jobs and benefit the environment. We donate equipment to startup entrepreneurs to help them become financially independent. We also run a successful school feeding and education program in approximately 50 schools. TTFF fundraising is focused in the US, while our beneficiaries are smallholder farmers, schools and others in Haiti, Jamaica and 15 other Caribbean and African countries.
