About Nahyd Meskini

Nahyd Meskini is currently Deputy Mayor in Drogenbos, and is charged with Finance, the Registry Office, Culture, European and International Affairs, Economy, ICT, Legal Affairs and Animal Welfare. She is responsible for the City’s 10 million revenue budget that is spent in different areas: public investments, social services, public cleanliness, security, culture, education, sport, urbanism, town and country planning, mobility and IT. She also proposes the annual and multi-annual budgets and the municipality taxes to the Council. Along with her role as Deputy Mayor, Nahyd Meskini sits on the General Assembly of the Holding Communal, the principal shareholder of bailed-out lender Dexia bank; at the Management Committee Member of Haviland, an intercommunity for public cleanliness; and as a Member of the United Nations Association in Belgium. Nahyd Meskini began her service at City Hall in 2013 as a City Councillor where she was a Commission member for Education, Sport, Culture, Youth and Festivities. Nahyd Meskini has a Degree in Politics from ULB in Brussels. She also obtained a LL.M in Public International Law from the University of Leicester and a Master Degree in International Relations from the University of London, Queen Mary College. She worked as an Events Assistant for The Prince’s Trust in London and had an experience as an intern at the Disarmament Office in the United Nations in New York. In Belgium, she did work for several international companies in Marketing. After having worked for a Public Affairs and Public Relations consultancy at the European level, she is now working for an International NGO located at the EU-District as HR Manager.
