About Nancy Degan

Nancy is a seasoned commercial litigator and leader, with more than 40 years of experience helping clients solve their legal problems through negotiations, trials, and appeals. She retired from private practice on February 1, 2024. Nancy has been listed in Chambers and Best Lawyers of America, and was recognized in Super Lawyers as one of the top lawyers in Louisiana. She has been recognized as a Benchmark Litigation "Top 250 Women in Litigation." A member of the American Law Institute, Nancy has published and spoken on various topics for the American, Louisiana and New Orleans Bar Associations; Tulane and Loyola University law schools; and the LSU Mineral Law Institute. She also taught "Federal Courts" at Loyola College of Law. Nancy led Baker Donelson's New Orleans and Mandeville offices for 5 years, and sat on the Firm's Board of Directors for 6 years. Nancy also chaired the firm's multi-office Business Litigation Practice Group for 8 years. In 2014-15, Nancy served as Chair of the ABA's Section of Litigation. In 2016-17 she chaired the ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, which vets Article judicial nominees. Nancy testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in connection with the appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
