About Nathan Nielson

Deep thinking. Broad analysis. Big issues. Civil dialogue. Conscientious and detail-oriented. My education has been very eclectic, ranging from Russian and International Relations to Philosophy and the Classics. I enjoy bringing people together to exchange ideas, whether it’s an interfaith setting, academic conference, or a public intellectual discussion. I love to wrap my mind around the pressing issues and trends of the day, in both international contexts and national paradigms, and synthesize information into digestible analysis. I have written articles, essays, commentaries, speeches, and a chapter in a book published by the University of Notre Dame Press. As a contributing content editor at the national interfaith coalition Faith Counts, I've had the privilege of interacting with prominent academic thinkers and opinion leaders. I love the Russian language, people, culture, and literature. Keeping current with the complexities of Russian foreign policy and politics is always a trick, but I enjoy the challenge. My avocation is to direct Books & Bridges - a nonprofit public humanities institute of ideas and conversation. This exercise of facilitating intellectual friendship, promoting civil discourse, and deepening the literary engagement of society continually expands my horizons. It's an exercise in societal diplomacy.
