About Nathaniel Smith

Born in Canada, but spent 5 years in Hong Kong growing up, I fell in love with Asia, travelling and experiencing cultures around the world. My passion for politics grew out of the unique political situation of Hong Kong and the grassroots movements I witnessed firsthand while living there. I have taken that passion to the University of Waterloo where I am studying Political Science and English, with a focus on International Relations and Rhetoric, Media, and Professional Communication respectively. In addition to my fascination with politics and political systems, I also love sports, reading, writing and music. I write my own poetry and short stories and am working on a novel. I have played piano since I was 5 and hope to pick up guitar. As an ice hockey goalie, I have played in high level international tournaments and was an Alliance Hockey Champion in 2018. I also have experience playing baseball, golf, tennis and many other sports. I have run my own YouTube channel since 2011 and have uploaded over 700 videos about some of my other hobbies I am passionate about (LEGO and RC's). Through YouTube and my other job experiences throughout highschool and university, I have managed to develop a wide range skills including, extensive photo and video editing skills, speaking, self/project management, maintenance and scripting skills to name a few. I hope to continue to continue to pursue my passions, while growing and developing my personal skills and professional experience.
