About Nejla McFarlane

Nejla is a senior clinician and passionate occupational therapist who traded city life for peaceful rural living some time ago. She has over a decade of diverse experience across disability, mental health, education, and forensic settings. Nejla has a special interest in working with those living with cognitive impairment, mental health challenges and dual disability. In addition to qualifications in occupational therapy, Nejla holds postgraduate qualifications in counselling and is endorsed as a behaviour support practitioner (specialist level for forensic and dual disability). To support her practice, Nejla receives regular clinical supervision from two industry leaders and has built a strong and extensive network of colleagues across diverse sectors. As a therapist, Nejla strives to ‘meet people where they’re at’ and is respectful of individual preferences and life goals. It is rare to find Nejla consulting from a sterile office or clinic - she is more likely to be found engaging with clients in nature, the community or in their home. Curious, trauma-informed, creative and thoughtful - she has no plans to ever retire from her vocation - direct client facing work.
