About Nicholas Hansel

The courses I completed within the Recreation and Leisure studies curriculum have prepared me for a career in Recreation and Hospitality. The Advanced Programming in particular, prepared me to create, run, and evaluate programs within an agency. It showed me the importance of deadlines, sponsorships, volunteers, and the significance organization. I also completed a course on evaluation. This course showed me how to create, distribute, and apply information from evaluations. All of the required classes within my major have fined tuned my knowledge of recreation and leisure. In addition, I interned with the City of Palm Springs and was the Director of the Summer Camp Program. Interning with the city helped me develop my leadership and managerial skills. It also gave me a chance to have hands on experience with running programs within a city. While pursing my college education, I have worked at The Parker Merdien in Palm Springs, California. Working at The Parker has given me an inside experience of how an exclusive resort is managed. The Parker thrives on customer service and working for the resort has given me the opportunity to enhance my oral communication and guest relations skills.
