About Nicholas Piovesan

I am passionate about the intersection between sustainability and education, and I want my work to help integrate a sustainability-driven mindset into the fabric of our society. I initially pursued my passion of education through music, and received my Bachelor of Education and Music from Queen's University, but after several years of teaching at IES Umea I found myself wanting to engage more with sustainability issues. That is why I pursued a Master's of Environment and Sustainability from Western University. Through my previous roles as an Environmental Coordinator at General Motors and a Community Partnerships Coordinator at ReHarvest, I have gained valuable experience in supporting sustainability strategies and initiatives, fostering cross-departmental and cross-sectoral collaborations, and communicating sustainability achievements through various platforms. As an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator at Generate Upcycle, I helped coordinate and take appropriate action pertaining to the environmental, health, and safety programs and employees of our sites within Southwestern Ontario. With over three years of experience in this role, I have developed strong competencies in environmental compliance, regulatory compliance, and adult education, ensuring that our company met the highest standards of environmental stewardship and employee well-being. My mission is to promote sustainability through education and action, and to find and inspire others to work together in this endeavour.
