About Nicholas Richard

While I've had many strange jobs over the years, they have tended to centre around story-telling, in various forms. More recently, I've returned to being a tour guide. It's suitable for a performer who likes to be the centre of attention and enjoys the sound of his own voice. The strange thing is, I took on this particular job assuming I'd just be another tour guide telling spooky stories in the dark and people can believe whatever they want to believe. I was wrong. There is magic in this world - things I didn't believe in for 32 years of my life. Things I could 'prove' didn't exist.Other than gallivanting with ghosts, and playing with the paranormal, I have experience in screen, theatre, cabaret and stand-up comedy. From mid-2012 to 2017, I was providing the voice and puppetry for Hoot the Owl on the ABC4Kids’ wrapper program Giggle and Hoot (Dir: Karin Fitzhardinge). During January 2013, we performed in Giggle and Hoot’s first ever stage show 'Giggle and Hoot and Friends'(AKA Productions, 2013), once again I was providing the voice and puppetry for Hoot the Owl. The show played in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and the Gold Coast. Giggle and Hoot and Friends had a second run in June and July of 2013, this time playing in the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.
