About Nick Malakhow
Nick sees his role in the English and Drama classrooms as fostering ethical, engaged, and savvy students. In English Literature, he achieves this by addressing communication through vocabulary and grammar, articulation of an argument, and critical thinking. As a Drama Teacher, he focuses on the complementary and sometimes overlapping skills of collaborative creation, imagination, and empathy through roleplaying. Starting in 9th grade, Nick aspired to teach. In his first year at Brimmer (2017), he is looking forward to joining Brimmer’s faculty members in a collaborative, collegial environment and is thrilled to be designing Middle School drama courses for the entire division—from those who might be passionate about theatre to students who are new to the subject. Before pursuing his graduate degree in Boston, Nick taught at Westtown School, a private Quaker boarding school in Pennsylvania. Outside of work, Nick enjoys being outdoors, whether it be running, hiking, or camping.
