About Nolan Theodore

When I was an undergraduate student at Stony Brook University, my degree program required an internship in order to graduate. On a whim I was able to secure an internship on-campus where I was able to connect with my peers through programming and conversations, including LGBTQ* education, sexual assault resources, and mental health awareness. This experience was life-altering at a time in my life where I wasn't confident what came next, but through this internship I knew that I wanted to continue to make a difference on college campuses as a career.I have now worked for seven years in the student affairs field, with backgrounds in various functional areas including residence life, curriculum development, academic advising, EDI, and student conduct. The highlights of my career include spearheading the implementation of learning outcomes in the University Housing department at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, re-designing the hearing officer training program and transforming the conduct manual, and the professional development opportunities I have enjoyed regarding Title IX processes. My current areas of interest include bystander intervention education, student conduct administration, and sexual misconduct investigation. I am particularly interested in professional development opportunities related to investigations in the workplace. In my previous as the Assistant Director of Student Conduct at Loyola University Maryland I was responsible for the management of the student conduct process, which handles more than 200+ hearings per year. In addition, I served as the contact person for all off-campus student resources and incidents. I also designed and facilitated all trainings for conduct hearing officers on-campus, including our undergraduate hearing panel. Finally, I was also responsible for supervising graduate students who serve as hearing officers within our office. In September 2023, I immigrated to Canada as a permanent resident to live with my husband after five years of long-distance. I am looking forward to the new opportunities and challenges that come with this move, and open to a myriad of possibilities for whatever the next step in my career might be!
