About Olivia Candini

MS in Medical Biotechnology and PhD in Experimental Medicine at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. In my PhD program I worked in molecular oncology field gained a considerable experience in molecular biology techniques to study mechanisms involved in cancer. My post-doc research focused on the impact of human aging and other determinants on mesenchymal progenitor properties with the aim to enhance MSC performance in tissue regeneration. I was responsible for Cell and Tissue Engineering R&D at Rigenerand srl. I led the project aimed to the development of biomedical devices and innovative 3D in vitro tools for applications in tissue regeneration and oncology. Currently I am supervisor of Cell Therapy Process Development at Evotec Modena. The main goal of my team is to develop and optimize iPSC, MSC and other cell based processes, enabling their GMP manufacturing. The challenge is to transform the “hand draw” R&D procedures in a process that can be “printed-out” for successful and consistent scaled up manufacturing! I love reading, play tennis and to put creativeness in what I do. “Imagination is the highest form of research”
