Background
About Ore Olaore
I am a research assistant at Cornell University and a senior student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Biomaterials and Drug Delivery. I have a passion for applying engineering principles and techniques to improve human health and well-being and raising the next generation of engineers and doctors. I have developed skills in machine learning, SOLIDWORKS, lab testing, and Minitab, which I use to design, analyze, and test innovative solutions for biomedical problems. As a research assistant, I have been working on a project that aims to create an AI device that can objectively characterize pain through the analysis of physiological and psychological responses. I have utilized algorithms developed in Python and pattern recognition to provide insights to the AI device, based on collected data from various sources. This project has challenged me to think creatively and critically, and to collaborate effectively with my peers and mentors. I am motivated by the potential impact of this device on improving pain management and reducing opioid abuse. As a future biomedical engineer, I aspire to continue developing cutting-edge technologies that can enhance the quality of life for people suffering from chronic or acute pain. I believe that I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, as I am also involved in leadership and community roles, such as the Vice President of External Affairs for the National Society of Black Engineers - Cornell Chapter, and the Special Projects Chair for the Black Bio-Medical and Technical Association. Through these roles, I have gained valuable skills in communication, fundraising, networking, and event planning, as well as a deeper understanding of the issues and opportunities facing the black community in STEM fields.
