About Owen Jones

I am an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark with a Ph.D. in biology from Imperial College London. I have a strong publication record and have been fortunate to collaborate with a wide range of researchers from diverse backgrounds. I am an associate editor at Ecology and Evolution, and a board member of Nordic OIKOS (the ecological society) and their Danish chapter. My research is currently funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (Danmarks Frie Forskningsfond) and Novo Nordisk Fonden. I am passionate about both teaching and research, and I enjoy the process of learning and discovery just as much as I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. Whether in the field or behind a computer, I feel at home exploring new ideas and making new connections. In my teaching, I aim to inspire my students to think critically and independently and to develop a deep understanding of the ecological systems we study. I am always looking for ways to make my courses more engaging and to create a supportive learning environment where all students feel welcome and valued. In my research, I am particularly interested in understanding the evolutionary ecology of aging and its consequences. I use various tools, from field experiments to statistical models and simulations, to explore these questions and uncover the hidden patterns and processes that shape our natural world.
