5 years ago, as the GM ( Sales & Marketing) my main challenge was 'ATTRITION', in the ranks. Today, without flashing an eyelid, people resign and join another company. It may be money or just an interactive discussion gone wrong. Then i started traveling throughout India and met most of the people possible. In all the meetings, I asked a specific question to everyone from a rep to the AGM."Touch your heart and tell me genuinely, how many of you joined this profession by default or by choice" 90% replied that they joined by default. That day onwards I started my presentations with the "MISSION, VISION & VALUES' of the company instead of the number chart which is the usual way of starting a meeting. Getting closer to OUR people by direct interaction and bonding over the mission, vision and values increased the positive energy churning inside. The attrition came down from a huge 65% to 29% in the first year of my joining. l
