About Parisa Pirooz

Parisa, a first-generation daughter of immigrants, carries the legacy of parents who each braved a homeland revolution. Her career has been deeply dedicated to championing women's rights and refugee causes. Parisa's immersive engagements include aiding survivors of Honor Killings from Syria, Egypt, Palestine, and Iraq in Jordan, and spearheading specialized curricula for women in U.S. refugee camps. Additionally, Parisa is recognized for her significant contributions to the federal government's Operation Allies Welcome task forces, which relocated vulnerable Afghan refugees across the U.S. She currently works at the largest refugee resettlement agency in the U.S. and is leading a gender-strategic project initiative that aids offices serving Afghan refugees. Parisa's deep immersion in refugee matters, both within U.S. refugee camps and globally, has equipped her with invaluable insights that continue to drive her dedication to these communities. Academically, Parisa is well-rounded, holding degrees from George Mason University at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. Further enriching her expertise, she pursued academic programs at prestigious institutions like Harvard Law School and the University of Oxford.
