About Patrick Aidoune

I’m the Division Manager for General Purpose STM32 Microcontrollers (MCU) at STMicroelectronics, responsible for the definition and execution of the product road map for our STM32 microprocessors. I lead a team of 500 to carry out product development for semiconductors – from market analysis and product definition to chip design, chip validation and industrialization. I have 20+ years’ experience in R&D, and previously was the Design Director for the STM32 microcontroller division. My strong engineering background, together with my time in design roles means I bring to the role an in-depth understanding of the semiconductor product and the intensive R&D behind it. My team has many highly skilled engineers, with two thirds of the team dedicated to R&D, so for me it’s important I understand what they do and how they do it, so I can make the right technical choices for our products, and so my team has total trust in my vision for our products and our organization. I’m very proud to be working with the leading semiconductor technology innovators. Our STM32 microcontrollers support more than customers. I love seeing the impact of our products in industrial and consumer applications. It’s incredibly rewarding to transform raw silicon into semiconductors, which have such potential to make a positive impact—like helping our customers to cut their carbon emissions, or enabling life-saving technology for people with heart conditions. Something people may not know about me is that I’m a drummer and used to play in a small rock and roll band here at ST, playing the likes of ZZ Top, Jimmy Hendrix and ACDC!
