About Patrick Maguire

I've built my career at the intersection of conservation finance and international development. My work has focused on leveraging carbon markets, biodiversity finance, and sustainable landscape management to drive lasting conservation and development impact. I have successfully helped build, manage and lead multi-stakeholder initiatives, convening government agencies, financial institutions, private sector actors, and NGOs to develop scalable strategies for conservation and climate resilience. My expertise spans voluntary and compliance carbon markets, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, nature-based solutions, and impact mitigation strategies. At USAID, I helped lead efforts on carbon markets in the AFOLU sector. Previously, as a Senior Program Manager at Forest Trends, I managed a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality research and analysis on conservation finance, voluntary carbon markets, and sustainable landscapes. I have also held leadership roles at The Nature Conservancy, WWF, and Forest Trends, designing financial mechanisms and conservation programs that channel funding to biodiversity protection. Skilled in strategic planning, fundraising, program management, and policy analysis, I thrive at the nexus of conservation and finance, helping organizations design and implement high-impact environmental solutions.
