About Patrick Malabuyo

I’m a bay-area native with a passion for music, learning and dogs. My expertise is the trombone and music composition and arranging. My passion for dogs came when I got my first dog 13 years ago. I’ve worked in dog care the past 3 years doing walking and boarding. I’ve also worked in engineering for 5 years as a drafter/designer from 2015 - 2020. As a musician, I have many qualities that translate in all fields, especially project based team environments. When I compose music, I take in consideration the orchestration, what kind of instruments are on the team, and create musical lines where the different instruments and parts complement each other to create a “sum greater than its parts.” As a performing jazz trombonist, I know how to blend my tone with the group, express my individuality with both creativity and technique, and prepare for performances by studying and practicing music ahead of time. These qualities translated in the dog industry when working with both intuitive animals like dogs and intellectual animals like humans. In the engineering field, my compositional, project-based mind applied to workflow, quality of my product, and collaboration. I have a very non-linear and eclectic career path which makes me adaptive, dynamic, and a fast learner.
