About Patrick McDonald

I started out at the City of Sioux Falls writing interactive programs in and IV with data in DB2 on the AS/400. We didn't have teams, a helpdesk, systems analysts, a QA department, etc. My next job was with Raven Industries (manufacturing) in RPG also on an AS/400. After that I went to EDCO (later renamed to Solcom and then Solarity). In the beginning, I was working in COBOL and RPG on an AS/400 and transitioned to Java with T-SQL. About 10 years ago a transition was made to C#, Javascript, and T-SQL. I have done conversions from DB2/400 to T-SQL. I've worked in T-SQL, C#, Java, Javascript, HTML, COBOL, RPG and IV, and HL7 (edi). I've worked in non-team environments and Agile team environments. I've worked without a QA team and with a QA team. I've worked in situations where the developer does all of the analysis, documentation, and support and also environments where the developer just does development and debugging. I've been a user of Jira and been in an Agile team environment.
