About Patrick Riley

I am a civil engineering professional with over 35 years of experience in development, transportation, and infrastructure engineering. As Director of the Water, Maritime and Advisory Sector at WSP Africa, I lead strategic initiatives across the continent and represent the region on global sector leadership groups. My work focuses on developing infrastructure solutions that are resilient to the pressures of rapid urban growth, aging systems, and climate change impacts—including droughts and floods. I am passionate about delivering innovative, future-ready solutions that support sustainable development across Africa. I bring extensive experience in engineering design, tender and bidding documentation, and contract administration for a wide range of civil infrastructure projects. I have served as project manager and works contract engineer on numerous construction projects, with expertise in geometric design, stormwater management, pavement rehabilitation, materials investigation, and construction monitoring.
