I have worked within LB Sutton's Strategic Planning Team for over 20 years and have responsibilities for - preparing the council’s planning policies on carbon/energy, flood risk, climate adaptation, waste and sustainable design- appearing at Examination in Public as necessary- developing a zero carbon policy, offset scheme and green space factor- strategic environmental assessment (SEA), sustainability appraisal (SA), Equalities Impact Assessment and Habitats Regulations Assessment- monitoring population, development/land-use and Sutton’s environment- EIA screening/ scoping and pre-application advice- strategic flood risk assessment (SFRA)- sustainable drainage (SuDS)- energy masterplans for decentralised energy opportunity areas - acting as the principal link between the Council’s R&I Network and the GLA on the Census - preparing Sutton’s Authority Monitoring Report and 5 year supply- representing the Council on the GLA’s Population Statistics Group, the GLA’s Carbon Group, the South West London Flood Group and other cross-Borough bodies. Achievements include- Sutton's Local Plan shortlisted for plan of the year at the RTPI annual awards in April 2019- Strategic Planning team shortlisted for team of the year at at the RTPI annual awards in April 2019- developed first green space factor policy in London- contributed to four local development plans between 1995 and 2018- Metropolitan Police award for Designing Out Crime SPD- prepared Borough Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and action plan as part of the council's participation in the EU 'GRaBS' project (Green and Blue Space Adaptation for Urban Areas and Eco-Towns) which was lead by the TCPA - prepared successful council bid to gain £3m funding for the Sutton Smarter Travel Sutton project
