About Paul Redman

I lead a team of economists/analysts and policy professionals and am responsible for providing the Commission and its staff with expert analysis of the economic implications of regulatory policy and financial market developments. Areas of focus in my work include- developments in market microstructure and their associated regulatory implications- analyse of broader economic and market conditions and identifying the regulatory/investor protection implications- regulatory impact analysis- the regulatory and policy implication of behavioural economics; and - analysis of potential sources of financial market instability. As part of my role, I represent the OSC on a number of national and international regulatory committees. I am currently the chair of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Committee on Emerging Risks I have over 17 years experience in the financial services industry. In addition to my experience in regulation/policy I held a roles at a major investment dealer, a global financial information provider and one of Canada’s largest insurance companies.
