Safety – Service Director Findlay, Ohio January 1, 2012 - 2020 Appointed by the incoming Mayor of the City of Findlay to combine the position of Safety Director and Service Director in 2012. SSD is the contracting authority, and oversees the superintendents and over 300 employees of the following City Departments: Police Water Pollution Control Zoning Building Maint Fire Storm NEAT Dispatch Engineering Streets WORC Cemetery Water Treatment Parks and Recreation Airport Public Health Initiatives: Budget - In 2011, the past administration had left office with an apparent $4MM deficit to be faced by the new administration. We immediately began working with department heads to pass a temporary budget, then worked on a permanent budget. Since 2012, the administration and staff have significantly increased capital investment and improved cash position in the General Fund to over $11MM. Capital Planning - Developed a 5-year capital plan that includes all major equipment acquisitions and projects in General and Restricted funds. Plan also includes a growth strategy for General Fund allocation to the Capital Fund. Vital to maintain infrastructure to attract business, and lessen impact of deferred maintenance costs. Engineering Department – City engineering role was added to job duties due to budgetary constraints and the need to revise the goals, and operational objectives of the department, now proactively administering many more larger projects. Undertook the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer mandate from the EPA and moved toward compliance with illicit discharge, and drainage ordinances. Flood Mitigation – As a consultant, worked with the City on issues related to a flood mitigation plan, following devastating Blanchard River floods in 2007 and 2008. In current role, working with County, FEMA and USACE on Tentatively Selected Plan (TSP).
