Board leadership for international companies - I helped Pretium Resources (PVG, NYSE and Toronto listed) to raise C$1B to fund mine/mill construction; projected debt will be paid off in 2021. Served as the Chair Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee where ISS Governance score went from high risk to the best possible score given by ISS. Member of Audit and Finance Committees. Leading strategy and investment results - as the Executive Vice President for Liberty Mutual, I led the teams responsible for approximately 90% of the investable Balance Sheet of Liberty Mutual; all domestic and international assets (Asia, Lat Am, Europe, Russia), from investment grade bonds to public equities. Top quartile results consistently provided capital for corporate growth. Driving industry leading fund management results - previously, as the Senior Vice President – Investment & Risk Management Acted as Chief Investment Officer for the Investment Division at Amerus Capital Management my teams generated results that became the platform for becoming a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). Also held actuarial product pricing, risk management and M&A responsibility. As a Business Consultant, I provide strategic advice to financial services and insurance companies regarding talent management and leadership, and business development to grow assets under management. Passionate about giving back in leadership and education, I serve as Board Trustee of the Blandin Foundation, Vice Chair of the Investment Committee and Member of the Governance Committee, and Chair of the Investment Committee and Member of the Executive Committee of Coe College. Committed to family, I realized the value of the ‘professional pause’ - I moved my family from Boston to Grand Rapids, MN to achieve balance and enjoy this phase of life with my kids and be more involved in their lives. I now value time in a new way. I have a unique perspective on life. My Dad is a physician and our family provided refugee work on the Thailand / Cambodia border during Pol Pot’s ‘killing fields’ where the atrocities of genocide were witnessed as a 12 year old. This experience has provided me with the foundation of gratefulness.
