Background

About Peter Cockrem

I'm a multidisciplinary consultant bringing an engineering mind, policy toolkit and international perspective to bear on the pressing issues for transport and urban systems. I work at the interface of strategic context and practical implementation. Always happy to help lift aspirations, deepen reasoning, think about systems, and push for practical implementable actions - get in touch by message or email peter@precision.city Transport is interwoven with many of society's most complex challenges, but there are win-win solutions across urban development, infrastructure, community building, climate change mitigation and adaptation. I've worked across transport design, economic evaluation, operational optimisation, spatial analysis and programming, public policy development, research, and community engagement. I enjoy keeping up with and contributing to industry research and best practice, and love a good technical challenge. Prior to returning to NZ, I spent three years exploring 50 countries of Eurasia overland. The diversity of transport systems I encountered was matched only by the ubiquity of human generosity and curiosity - from Dutch cycleways to Afghan donkey tracks, post-Soviet freight ferries, Persian bus rapid transit, the Chinese bullet train network, and crossing the Gobi Desert in a Prius. I'm always open to a good discussion about how things are or should be - feel free to get in touch!
