About Peter Gilmore

Peter Gilmore is a professional urban planner and project manager with Local Government experience for the past 28 years with prior 5 years experience in the private practise. First qualified as a Town Planning Technician in 1992 and later undertook Master’s degree in Town & Regional Planning in 2006 at UKZN and a further Master of Commerce (Business Leadership) degree in 2013. Peter has extensive experience in both urban and rural planning matters, public administration, developmental and statutory planning matters, regional spatial planning, local economic development, tourism, project management (infrastructure & urban renewal) and property law & development, and previously served as Board member on the South African Council for Planners. Currently Chairman of SAPI Bill Hurt Educational Trust and Chairman SAPI KZN region. Other planning related activities involve guest lecturing at the University KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) for the master’s degree planning course, external exam moderator for both UKZN and Durban University of Technology and e-learning course tutor for the World Bank Institute. Extensive experience has also been gained in the mentoring and coaching of planning interns and delivery of skills development programmes.
