About Peter Hone
I am a recent U of S graduate from the Master of Science degree. During my research I built new work flows to analyze and understand the datasets better: I built new methods of categorization which were better suited to petrological boundaries; contrasted trends in the dataset to supercontinent cycles showing the importance of spatial data during analysis; provided a new way to compare pressure-temperature-time paths (P-T-t) using thermobaric exaggeration (TBx). These P-T-t paths are tricky to compare because they are plotted as curved lines which don’t lend themselves to easy comparison in large batches. To accomplish these things, I had to take the initiative and learn many new computer programs and some coding language (IoGas, Microsoft Access, GIS Applications, GPlates, and Python). Alongside these technical accomplishments, I also became a strong writer and communicator with experience working with many groups of people – experts, students, public, and school outreach.
