About Peter Puskic

I am an interdisciplinary marine scientist with expertise in understanding the impacts of Anthropogenic stressors on environments, wildlife, and human communities. I am a highly experienced field biologist with a comprehensive understanding of marine wildlife physiology and population monitoring (turtles, seabirds, marine mammals), plastic monitoring and clean ups and have conducted fieldwork in remote and challenging environments. The global plastics crisis is inherently a people problem and requires collaboration and collective efforts to solve. Because of this, my research, though grounded in conservation physiology, is conducted in an interdisciplinary manner, and works with vets, wildlife carers and managers, and local knowledge holders (including seabird harvesters) to co-produce data. Therefore, my other research outputs have centred around policy and large intergovernmental initiatives to minimise marine debris, prevent pollution, and mitigate other Anthropogenic threats.
