About Phaedra Otwey

I am an aspiring wildlife ecologist with particular interests in landscape ecology, urban ecology, biodiversity conservation, and climate change resiliency. My love and fascination for animals and their habitats has fuelled my career journey, and my experience with field work in Jamaica and conducting an undergraduate thesis on forest frog landscape connectivity has helped me to define my current direction. I love working in the field learning new survey techniques and working with different animals, as well as writing reports and trying to find solutions to conservation problems. As an environmentalist, I am passionate about our natural world and minimizing the effects of land-use change and climate change on wildlife and wild spaces. With a background predominantly in research, I am an advocate of evidence-based decision making and hope to support policy with applied ecological research one day.
