About Rachel Hammonds

Rachel Hammonds is an internationally-recognised global health specialist and human rights advocate. A widely-published academic and licensed attorney, Dr Hammonds has consulting and research experience spanning five continents. She has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed legal and medical journals and served as a consultant to numerous international organisations including the WHO, UNAIDS, MSF, and the Belgian NGO 11.11.11. The majority of her professional experience has been in academic settings, including the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at the Harvard School of Public Health, the University of Antwerp, and the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. She has also worked as a tax advisor at Deloitte & Touche Central Europe and as a legal consultant to the US Treasury Department. For her research and professional contributions, Dr Hammonds has been named among 300 Women Leaders in Global Health by The Graduate Institute in Geneva. She is a board member and advisor to Mothers at Risk (MAR), the international non-profit organisation devoted to reducing the vulnerability of mothers, women and girls living in poverty.
