About Rachel Kavithe

My Portfolio I derive so much pleasure in working with mothers/caregivers, children and adolescents and together walk through a journey of transformation in nutrition knowledge, attitudes and practices. As an experienced clinical and community nutritionist, I am so excited about the differences I have made in people’s lives. I vividly remember being admitted for a Food, Nutrition and Dietetics course at the University which I accepted with a lot of hesitation since I came from one of the most food insecure places in Kenya. After enrollment I realized over time that the course had nothing to do with my origin but it provided an opportunity for me to impact on people’s lives positively, I have never regretted the move. I have seen peoples’ nutrition status change in my very own eyes, knowledge, attitudes and change of behavior. I have met mothers and caregivers who are discouraged due to their nutrition problems and put a big smile on them after engagement and support, what other fulfilment can one wish for. I yearn to be in this position with a strong belief and trust in myself on what I can deliver and be a strong member of your team. The bottom of the matter is that the foundation of good health and nutrition is the mother and child. Once you invest on mother and child, the benefits run throughout the life course. One of the skills I use a lot is the strength I have in capacity building, ability to work with teams, teachable and learning character, sociable, ease of working in diverse cultures/environments and enthusiast for best results. My education and work data is documented in my Curriculum Vitae and I respond so well to change and embrace ideas and new approaches that build me as well as contributing to the wellbeing of any project I undertake.
