About Raj Brar

As Director of Foreign Credential Recognition & Career Services at Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society, I lead with purpose — building inclusive, high-impact programs that help newcomers, women, and underrepresented professionals thrive in Canada’s workforce. My mission is to turn barriers into bridges — helping internationally trained professionals reclaim their careers through credential recognition, pre-arrival guidance, and employment services that begin before newcomers land in Canada and continue until they succeed. Over the past several years, I’ve led national and provincial transitions, stabilized new projects, and forged partnerships across sectors — proving that sustainable change comes from collaboration, empathy, and clear results. Beyond my role at PICS, I proudly serve as: • Board Member, Women Economic Council of Canada – championing immigrant and racialized women through mentorship, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities. • Treasurer, BC Prior Learning Action Network (BCPLAN) – advancing recognition of informal learning, lived experience, and international expertise within Canadian systems. My work also extends to anti-racism initiatives, women’s empowerment, and international outreach, including Pre-Arrival programs in India and Mexico and institutional collaborations with partners like the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV). I believe in quiet strength, bold service, and leadership that opens doors for others.
