About Reeza Hanselmann

I believe that environment and climate must be at the foundation of educational policymaking and programming in order to meet the immediate and future challenges of the climate crisis we are all facing. I am keen to build a career in project development and advocacy to promote sustainable, equitable and just development through education. I am in the final year of my Erasmus Mundus MA programme in Education Policies for Global Development where I have focused on the nexus of education and sustainable development, with a particular interest in the role of education in holistic disaster and crisis recovery. My professional experience includes varied roles in the non-profit sector and within international development across Latin America, Africa and Europe. In my roles with GIZ, FEE and RISING Global Peace Forum I have developed my skills in event and project management, having contributed to the organisation of and provided logistical support for international conferences, produced project resources and been instrumental in facilitating multi-stakeholder collaboration. My professional experiences have equally given me opportunities to develop my knowledge of and skills in communications (including in social-media), research and translation. I have consistently pursued academic opportunities to support my pursuit of a career in my fields of interest in international development. In my MA studies so far, I have focused on environmental education and education for sustainable development with a particular interest in Latin America and the Caribbean given my proficiency in Spanish. In this context, I am currently planning my thesis fieldwork to explore the relationship between education reform and socially just recovery in Puerto Rico post Hurricane Maria.
