About Rhys Murray

I’m an operations-focused hospitality leader with a background in economics + econometrics and a sharp interest in business performance, scalability, and value creation. Over the past several years, I’ve led multi-unit hostel, bar, and F&B operations across major European cities (Berlin, Barcelona, & Vienna), consistently driving revenue growth, optimising cost structures, and developing high-performing teams. Recent initiatives have resulted in sustained double-digit revenue increases alongside improved operating margins - achieved through a combination of strategic pricing, cost control, and process optimisation. I bring a commercial mindset to every role, with a strong grounding in P&L ownership, budgeting, and workforce planning. My experience managing both top-line growth and bottom-line efficiency positions me well at the intersection of operations and strategy. Beyond day-to-day leadership, I sit on the Fiscal Council of Europe’s Famous Hostels, where I contribute to the financial governance and strategic development of a 50+ property network across the continent. I’m especially interested in how data, people, and capital come together to build sustainable hospitality ventures - and in opportunities to apply that insight across broader business contexts.
