About Ricardo Vera

I am currently working for the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), a laboratory organization within the US Army Corps of Engineers, as a research physical scientist. My current focus is on terrain analysis, image processing, and mapping through use of geographic information systems. As a graduate student at the University of New Hampshire, my oceanographic research included nutrient analysis of interstitial water and the overlying water column during sediment resuspension events. Coursework focused on chemical oceanography in estuarine environments as well as statistical and computational modeling. As an undergraduate at Stockton University, I conducted independent research of inorganic chemical species in Great Bay, NJ. My academic studies concentrated in both oceanography and computational modeling with courses such as Estuary Modeling, Computational Nonlinear Systems, and Analysis of Seawater & Sediment. During my undergraduate tenure, I was a board member of the marine science club, helped found the school's chapter of Marine Technology Society, and was an avid volunteer for beach cleanup and disaster relief. My previous career in information technology includes OS troubleshooting of both PC and "big iron," tier 1 and 2 help desk support, networked infrastructure support, and NJ gaming compliance.
