About Richard Bennett

I have spent most of my career in the Northern Tasmanian labour market, recruiting and now assisting individuals with career transitions and outplacement. In early 2009 I completed 10 years as Recruitment Manager with Country Club Tasmania. This involved bringing hundreds of new recruits annually into a diverse range of occupations in hospitality and tourism from Coles Bay to Strahan and everywhere north. Since then I have gained Training and Assessment qualifications and have worked in Outplacement and Career Transition. On 1 July 2012 I joined Annie Kirby-Fahey and Alexis Dumas to open Outplacement Tasmania. We work with individuals, often supported by the employers they are leaving, to explore their strengths, needs and future opportunities. In 2020 we rebranded to Career Options Tasmania in recognition of the broader services we now offer to employers, employees and individuals. The relationship with and investment in the 'participant' is the key to reward in this work for me. I refer to the ‘journey of career transition’ and love to be by the side of a participant as he or she creates new ambitions and sets a path to achieving them. We often become experts at parking our true destiny and I see my job is to ensure that during times of change we aspire to what's right not just what's next. My career in recruitment and outplacement is combined with a commitment to Tasmania and an engaging approach. Having represented Tasmania at cricket in the 80 and 90s I maintain links with the Launceston sporting community and commit as much as I am able to junior sport in northern Tasmania.
