About Rigoberto Lua

As a staff attorney at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), I work with a dedicated team of professionals to provide pro bono legal representation and advocacy to unaccompanied children in the United States. I have been in this role for over a year and a half, and I am passionate about advancing the rights and well-being of children in need. I have a Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law, where I received two Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence in Legal Research and Writing and Civil Procedure, and a Bachelor of Arts in History, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles. I also have a Professional Research Certification from LexisNexis Legal and am fluent in Spanish. I have honed my skills in public speaking, leadership, and collaboration through various internships and positions at the Santa Clara County Office of the District Attorney, Monterey District Attorney's Office,and the Katherine George Alexander Community Law Center. I am a sociable person with a strong work ethic. I think outside the box and quickly adapt to change. I believe that with a strong mind, a little bit of grit, and a lot of determination, I can achieve anything.
