About Ripeka Walker
Understanding the social and political environment in which we design is critical to producing decent architecture. This conviction guides my research and practice. I provide strategic value to projects involving complex staging, renewal and integration. I understand the importance of rigorous site due diligence, developing well-defined design briefs within compliance frameworks and managing risk. I follow through with effective contract administration to ensure projects are realised. My research focuses on the civic realm as a communication field. The cultural grounding for this work is the ātea and its temporal activation through the protocol of pōwhiri. This research is supported by a Research Training Program Scholarship provided by the Australian Commonwealth Government and the University of Melbourne.(Funding 2021 - 2024).
