About Rob Colonico

Canadian level designer living in Tokyo, Japan. Industry professional since 2017 with experience across multiple projects including the Splinter Cell remake, Far Cry 6, and Starlink: Battle for Atlas. Upper-intermediate proficiency in Japanese. As a child, I had a wide range of interests and experiences that helped shape who I am today. Music runs in my family, and I grew up playing guitar and piano. I was also an avid video editor and enjoyed making creative videos. I’ve always loved working with my hands and took an interest in crafting, construction, technology, and the culinary arts. There was even a time where I wanted to be a chef and won second place in a cooking competition! Perhaps my strongest interest was the performing arts. I was in all my high school stage productions — The Music Man, Les Misérables, South Pacific, and many others. I also landed a leading role in a music video for Canadian rock band Billy Talent, and played Chip in a professional stage production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. There was even a time where I trained to become a pro wrestler! I'm proud of my life experiences and draw on them regularly for inspiration. Game development satisfies all of my creative and technological interests, and making something that people love is so fulfilling. I believe it's important to love what you do. And if you love your work, people will love it back—it's like that Beatles lyric:"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
