About Rob Cooper

I completed 30 years as a police officer with the Hertfordshire Constabulary in 2012. 19 of those years were spent in various detective posts and the last seven years were within the Learning and Development department. As a trainer I was involved primarily with the development and running of interview courses for both probationer officers and seasoned detectives as well as delivering "Achieving Best Evidence"(video interviewing) for social workers and police officers dealing with Child victims and witnesses and vulnerable adults. I have completed the PTLLS training qualification and further completed year one of the DTLLS Qualification including teaching observations and assessed hours. In June 2012 I relocated to the south west and worked for two years as a Learning Mentor at Truro College in Cornwall where I supported students in the Sports, Public Services, Automotive, Engineering and Construction curriculum areas. In August 2014 I joined The Cornwall College group as a Personal Learning Advisor and Safeguarding Lead covering St Austell and Newquay campuses. This includes running tutorial and PPD sessions as well as leading on Safeguarding issues for both students and adults. In September 2016 I was appointed full time Safeguarding Lead (later deputy designated safeguarding lead) with responsibility for the St Austell, Newquay and Eden Project Campuses as well as cross college responsibilities including leading on staff safeguarding training and the prevent agenda awareness training. As of 1st October 2020 I will be working for First Light as the Team Lead for the Independant Sexual Violence Advisors covering Devon and Cornwall. I am also a school Governor in a local primary school with a lead role in literacy and safeguarding having close contact with the pastoral team and curriculum leads across the school.
