References: https://pori.hk/enamecard/robertchung.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Chung I am the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute (HKPORI), an Adjunct Associate Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and the Vice President and President-Elect of the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR). In 1991, I established the Public Opinion Programme (POP) at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and began to study the development of public opinion in Hong Kong. In 2019, HKUPOP spun off to become HKPORI as an independent institute. Up to this date, our team have conducted more than independent surveys, covering media development, electoral studies, policy issues, and youth studies. I am currently a member of the Advisory Board of the International Journal of Public Opinion Research (IJPOR). I was also the Founding Warden of RC Lee Hall in HKU and has taught in many universities. I was a Panelist of Television Programme Advisory Panel of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), a Panelist of the Television Programme Appreciation Index (TVAI) Research Panel, a Committee Member of the Specialized Committee on Social Development of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, a member of the Community Research Subcommittee of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), and a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations of ICAC. From 1993 to 1994, I served as a part-time community panelist of the Central Policy Unit (CPU) of the Hong Kong Government, then became a part-time member of the CPU between 1994 and I have been the Hong Kong representative at WAPOR for more than 20 years. Between 2006 and 2007, I was the elected Secretary-Treasurer of WAPOR. From 2010 to 2015, I was the elected Chair of its Liaison Committee. In 2012, WAPOR held its first annual conference outside Europe and America, and I was appointed chair of that conference in Hong Kong, which attracted a record number of papers and participants. In 2017, I was elected the Founding President of the WAPOR Asia, a regional chapter of WAPOR, which evolved into WAPOR Asia Pacific in 2022. In 2020, I was elected Vice President and President-Elect of WAPOR, so in 2023 I will be become the President of WAPOR. I authored the 2012 edition of The Freedom to Publish Opinion Poll Results Report, I am a strong advocate of academic freedom and scientific polling.
