About Rodrigo Herrera

Rodrigo is an Associate Professor and specialist in Financial Econometrics, has dedicated his academic and professional career to economics and applied research. He completed his Ph.D. and postdoctoral studies in Economics, with a focus on Econometrics, at the Dresden University of Technology, Germany. From April 2018 to May 2024, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Talca. Previously, he held significant roles as the Director of the Center for Research in Applied Economics (CIEA) and the Master's program in Economics (MAEC) at the same institution. He has been a visiting researcher at various renowned international institutions, including the National Centre for Econometric Research (NCER) and Queensland University of Technology in Australia, Humboldt University of Berlin, Dresden University of Technology, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and University of Saarland in Germany, as well as the Erasmus School of Economics in the Netherlands. His research has been published in prestigious academic journals such as the Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, International Journal of Forecasting, and Energy Economics. In addition, he has led and participated in various competitive research projects, including four consecutive FONDECYT projects, an international research project DAAD-CRUCH, and has been a recipient of a postdoctoral research fellowship from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation in Germany. Apart from his academic and research work, Rodrigo has served as a member of the Board of the Chilean Economic Society and the International Finance Conference.
