Strategy can be applied to anything: Design, collaboration, people, … Design management: Design is a multi-disciplinary activity where different tracks need to end up together. It requires clear communication, planning and processes My main drive: Be successful together. Success can be defined in many ways: A failed experiment, a product returning usage data allowing for its iteration, a person having learned to navigate an issue him/herself, … as long as there is value created or exchanged, we are good. In my opinion: Design is not just about making things look good. It needs to be relevant. It forms an integral part of business strategy and delivery Meaningful experiences. The world has enough products already. People don’t need more and the planet cannot handle more. Before introducing anything else, it needs to be clear what it will replace Designers are curious about everything, but knowing everything is impossible. Design is about researching, inspiring,(co-)creating and facilitating A design journey includes a thorough analysis of the job- as well as device lifecycle. From awareness of the “thing” we want to disposing/repurposing it System Design is the way to go. All what we do, we use, is related directly or indirectly with each other. One solution affects another in positive or negative. We cannot only design a product, we need to understand how the system works, pick the most relevant leverage point, improve it and reevaluate what the next intervention should be Engagement drives success.
