I am well versed in computers and technology. I started life in IT as a Jade programmer for Northland Health at Whangarei Base Hospital following my graduation from my Bachelor of Applied Information Systems degree. My current role has been evolving. I worked, coming up to 16 years for TRT as an IS Manager/administrator in what was a solitary position for 10 years. Over the last few years, the organisation has hired staff who report to me, and I have been largely handing off day to day operational responsibilities to staff and focusing on complex change projects involving ERP, cloud services, cyber security and network design. The job is largely sedentary, and I have made up for this out of work hours by being active at home, walking dogs, working on projects and even periods of intensive gym attendance. I have a keen interest natural body building, wellbeing and fitness. I have a keen interest in a wide variety of outdoor activities from gardening to construction/DIY, landscaping and solving break-fix problems and working with ceramics. I have taken courses in agriculture, animal care and horticulture throughout my life. Some were less formal night classes, such as garden landscaping and others more formal like plant propagation and dairy agricultural. Worked a few years as a dairy farmhand and later farm manager with study in livestock improvement (Ambreed) and Herd Management (Wintec). Some equine training too. I was an indentured glazier for 22 years with having completed both Trade Certificate and Advanced Trade Certificate in flat glass. I've worked many aspects of the industry from domestic and commercial glazing, to glass cutting using computerised optimised cutter equipment to repairing and replacement of auto body glass, etc. My last role in the industry (ending in 1997) was as a foreman for a Kerikeri Aluminium fabricator and glazing company. I've worked in secondary and primary health sectors initially as a Jade programmer, later a tech, administrator and finally as a manager for a PHO collective. I have been baking for a charity called Good Bitches Baking since 2017 and am a supporter of the NZ Heart Foundation, UNICEF and the SPCA of New Zealand. Other work experiences have included pumping fuel and retail work, wine steward and barman, database conversions, custodian work, supermarket night fill, dairy farming, Ambreed AI Technician, etc. I have a love for critters, cooking, gardening, landscape design and related constructions, pottery, music and movies.
