About Rohan Patil
I am a researcher at Mid Sweden University with a multidisciplinary background in Electronics Engineering, Communication Systems, and Engineering Physics. My work focuses on the scalable production and advanced characterization of next-generation battery materials, with a particular emphasis on silicon nanoparticles for high-performance Li-ion battery anodes. I have hands-on expertise in a broad range of materials characterization techniques, including SEM, TEM, XRD, and Raman spectroscopy, as well as advanced electrochemical testing (GCD, CC-CV, EIS). My research integrates experimental work with advanced data analysis, image processing, and machine learning, leveraging programming skills in Python and MATLAB to extract meaningful insights for data analysis, modeling, and visualization, especially in the context of battery material characterization and SEM image data analysis. The central research question of my thesis investigates the reaction pathway for synthesizing silicon nanoparticles through furnace treatment of silicon micropowder in a hydrogen atmosphere at high temperatures (800 °C). Alongside experimental work, I have also engaged in theoretical modeling to evaluate the feasibility of hydrogen diffusion into the silicon lattice and its interactions with silicon atoms. I am the co-inventor of a patented silicon-nanographite aerogel anode material (US 2022/0336798), now being commercialized by Granode Materials AB, and my work has been recognized in the Top 100 Scientific Reports in Materials Science (2019). My goal is to contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions and advanced inspection technologies by combining technical expertise, creative problem-solving skills.
